April 2016 Perspective: Making Your Tax Bracket Work For You

This month’s Perspective comes from our new website in the form of a short one minute and thirty second video.  We know you have been busy sorting through various statements and tax forms, diligently working to fulfill your civic duty to pay your required taxes.  This video simply illustrates the amount of taxes, and at what tax-rate you pay, is subject to many variables. Some of these variables are in your control. As U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Learned Hand once said:

"Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as
possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the
treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes.
Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister
in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone
does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any
public duty to pay more than the law demands."

Part of our process working with you, our clients, is to look for opportunities to discuss the techniques and strategies that we can help you implement to reduce your tax bill.
